BackgroundSoluble CD40 ligand/ soluble CD154: CD40L inducing ligand is a protein that belongs to the tumor necrosis factor (TNF) ligand family which functions as prominent mediators of immune regulation and the inflammatory response. CD40 binds CD40L expressed on Antigen presenting cells (APC) (1). CD40-CD40L pathway functions in T cell response, IL-12 production and regulates B cell functions (2).
