BackgroundVascular endothelial growth factor class c: VEGF-c is a growth factor that belongs to the platelet-derived growth factor family which functions as signaling proteins in angiogenesis and vasculogenesis. Only fully processed VEGF-c binds to VEGF-R receptor which causes receptor tyrosine phosphorylation (1)(2). VEGF-c plays a role in lymphangiogenesis and permeability of blood vessels (1).
