BackgroundInterferon-gamma: IFN- is the only cytokine that belongs to the type II group of interferon which function as prominent mediators of immune response against viral or intracellular bacterial infections. IFN- functions as anti-viral, anti-inflammatory and anti-tumor cytokines (1). IFN- can be used to treat chronic granulomatous disease and osteoporosis. (2)(3).
